Principal's Corner

principal morganGreetings Manley Families and Community Members,

We are half-way through the school year and there are great and wonderful things taking place at Manley. As we continue to transform Manley High School into the highest performing neighborhood school on the West Side, we must work together as a community to ensure we are giving our students a world class education. Below are some of the current successes Manley has achieved this school year as well as areas in which we need your support:

Current Manley Successes

  • Manley HS is #1 of 28 High Schools on the West Side in Sophomore On-Track Growth
  • 79% of Manley Seniors have been accepted into college! Our goal is 80%; we are almost there!!!
  • Manley’s current attendance rate is 74%, outperforming last year’s attendance rate by 8%. Our goal is 80% attendance for the year.
  • Manley High School juniors raised their practice ACT scores by 17%!
  • 220 Manley students had excellent attendance last quarter, missing 2 days or less. 125 students were rewarded with a field trip to MLK Skating and Bowling Center and Senior Karlena Scott received a 32-inch flat screen TV for having perfect attendance. 59 students were rewarded with perfect attendance awards.

Support We Need From Parents and Guardians

  • Make sure students attend school every day, on time, fully prepared for learning and ready to comply with all school rules.
  • Tell your student the importance of passing ALL his or her classes and to complete Student Success packets if they are currently failing a course.
  • All junior students MUST attend school on April 24th and 25th for the Prairie State Achievement Exam. This test is very important. All students need to take this test in order to graduate and go to college. We need students to do their absolute BEST! Make sure students get plenty of rest and eat a well-balanced breakfast before attending school on April 24th and 25th.
  • We need parents and community members to join the Manley Local School Council. If you are interested in making Manley even better, please apply for the LSC by March 8th.
  • We need all student physicals and shot records on file. In order for a student to attend school they must have all records on file. Students who are not medically compliant are subject to being excluded from school until records are updated and on file. Please contact our school nurse, Ms. Delores Jackson at 773-534-6900 if you need more information.

As always, it is my pleasure to serve as your Principal and if you ever have any questions, comments, concerns, or are interested in enrolling in Manley for next school year please feel free to reach me at 773-534-6900.

Sincerely,

Principal Warren Morgan
